In the morning of April 22, invited by Professor Jiahui Shao, Professor Chuyang Y. Tang from The University of Hong Kong gave a wonderful academic report on the topic of " Membranes for Water, Energy, and a More Sustainable World " for the faculty and students of Shanghai Jiao Tong University at the 175th Environmental Forum.
With the increasing demand for wastewater purification, wastewater treatment, and seawater desalination, membrane separation technology is widely used in water and energy recovery, especially pressure-driven membrane processes such as microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration (NF), and reverse osmosis (RO) are highly regarded. Prof. Chuyang Y. Tang introduced the research application of aquaporin-based biomimetic membranes, and proposed methods for structural regulation of RO and NF membranes, such as intermediate layer construction, nanoscale pore optimization, and electrospray assisted interface polymerization. By continuously breaking through the critical limit of membrane material permeability-selectivity, efficient recovery of water resources can be achieved.
